When is odysseus loyal

To Odysseus loyalty is the most important quality. He expects his family and friends to be loyal. Through insecurities and heartbreaks, Cyrano would never forget his pride or the feelings of his friends. He never lost his honor and would always bring light into any situation, even when he was near his death.

Cyrano displayed many positive traits and values such as loyalty, devotion, selflessness, knowledge, and pride which all contributed to our sympathy towards him. Penelope is a faithful wife, who waits twenty years without ever allowing she to marry one of the many suitors. There eventually did come a time when Penelope told the suitors she would marry once she finished Odysseus's father's shroud, yet she says, " By day I'd weave at my great and growing web-by night, by the night of the torches set beside me, I would unravel all I'd done" Book XIX, p , The fact that she intentionally used trickery to distract the suitors shows her loyalty to her husband.

By showing, her commitment to her long lost love, Homer created Penelope to look like an undoubtedly loyal character. The second most outstanding presentation of loyalty in this novel was one of father and son. Penelope is faced with many suitors who wish to marry her and rule Ithica, yet she remained loyal and had faith that her husband, Odysseus would return to her side.

In one instance, the suitors pressured her into choosing one of them to marry. Then every night she would undo her progress of the day. Odysseus too, had been desired by others and he too avoided them. There is almost another outbreak of violence between the people of Ithaca and Odysseus for killing the suitors, but Athena ends the violence. Peace is restored in Ithaca. In summary, Odysseus is a unique character, but he has all of the traits of an epic hero.

His heroism and unique journey are reasons that The Odyssey is popular thousands of years from its origin. Revenge cannot be everlasting like this, there is no good to come when you fight pain Odysseus with pain relatives of suitors together you just create more pain and suffering. He may have not been a hero that Ithaka wanted but he was the hero the Athena wanted and the God's reasoning are not to be questioned. The text doesn't end with a proper solution, Athena likes Odysseus and she helped him until the end so he can be happy with his family for once since he has been gone for several years.

What happens next is shocking and very interesting. She reports to our protagonist that she still has exciting feelings about a man she knew before her husband. She even explains how he loved her greatly and may have even died for her. He realizes that although their relationship was always a good on and that he is a good man; he can never be the man that gave his life for her.

With no word of Odysseus for ages, it seemed hopeless for his wife Penelope to see him once again. Stubborn and unwilling to marry the brazen and selfish suitors, she prolonged her marriage by unweaving her web. His punishment was the death penalty, which he served was served on January 24, His friends remained shocked and his mother stood by his side defending him until he was gone.

His life growing up should have been easy, but the events caused by his family mix him up and his social exclusion and peer confusion helped add to his rage; finally, he was left heartbroken.

Every day is different and we all learn from the day before, but sometimes when major life-changing events all happen around the same time it may be difficult to understand, grasp and accept. Through all his actions on the trip he has led me to believe that he does not love Penelope than what we once thought because of how long it took him to get home, because of how many girls he slept with and the risks he took on his way home.

All of these things have made me think of Odysseus in a whole new way and not a good…. Yes, that can be said and that is true but that was the only time he had respect for them and tried to help them.

He basically killed his crew and never tried to help them as much as he could. Penelope could have easily run to a new man that is a king of a different island but she waited for him, he screwed her over by cheating on her. Like Gandalf, Dumbledore is known to be the wisest character in the series that foresees and prepares for the destined battle and events to come.
