Why do all reggaeton

It is this mix of different styles found throughout latin america that continues to drive the music forward and keep it from becoming overly repetetive. Reggaeton is based upon the "Dem-Bow" beat. Though many westerners may critique the music for hoving the same beat in every song, the fact is, this is the same as any form of latin music. Every salsa song has the same rhythm, as does every cumbia , every merengue , etc Any music intended specifically for dancing, as reggaeton is, will always have the same beat to make it easier and more fun to dance to.

Also, though many reggaeton songs have explicit lyrics, this is only one form of the genre, called " Perreo ," which is usually accompanied by a form of grinding which goes by the same name. However, there are other forms of reggaeton: "Bachateo" and "Romantico" are two of the most common, both typically based around love.

Reggaeton can be danced fast, slow, in pairs, or even single. Some famous reggaeton artists: Daddy Yankee is the most famous artist at the moment. Don Omar sings more emotional songs, often in the "bachateo" style. Right up there with country and rap in terms of worse music on the planet. Oct 27, 1, Hyperbole aside I will just being by saying I don't really like the genre I actually heavily dislike it but I cannot escape it, believe me I've tried.

Last time I went to the dentist they had this reggaeton station in very low volume, I could only hear the beat, next to no lyrics, and I kid you not unless the song was like 20 mins long the beat didn't change much or at all, maybe a faster or lower tempo but in general Is this general knowledge to people who like this stuff?

Is the world aware of this? Is it something that is discussed or do we actually ignore it? LookAtMeGo Member. Oct 25, 7, a parallel universe. It doesnt do anything for me either. I do love some reggae though. Oct 26, 2, I fucking love reggaeton. My roommate back in in tech school, a Puerto Rican dude, played a lot of it.

When he graduated and went to his first base, he left behind a ton of reggaeton compilations. I bumped those a lot a few years later when I got a car, it was good driving music.

As reggaeton began to concretely assert its place in the mainstream music scene in the early s, many other Puerto Rican reggaeton artists began to emulate lyrics with misogynistic sentiments.

With the growing commercialisation of the genre across Latin and North America, the objectification of women in lyrics noticeably increased. Women are also presented as decorative and submissive in many mainstream reggaeton music videos and choreography, with male artists at the centre, and scantily clad women dancing in the background. Daddy Yankee, a pale-skinned Puerto-Rican man, has become the global face of reggaeton.

His less well-known music discusses the struggles facing black neighbourhoods, and the discrimination that he faced in Puerto Rico — reggaeton gave him a space to discuss these issues. His lack of renown is emblematic of the oversight of issues around race and class that are traditionally raised by reggaeton; and the white-washing is such that appropriated versions of the music have become centralised.

It is these versions, that make no mention of political issues, that we now regard as reggaeton. Black Reggaetoneras female Reggaeton artists such as La Sista and Ivy Queen have attempted to push against this whitewashing of the genre, but also against the foregrounding of the male artist in the genre, and the use of only white women as background dancers.
