In recent years, designer Stephan Peirce even reworked the original Helix design to improve functionality across the whole range, resulting in a sturdier, bottom heavy shape in the Helix bongs.
You can even get a Helix hand pipe, with the same triangular-shaped smoke chamber. Check out the best bongs of While ROOR have collaborated with artists for huge feats of craftsmanship like the Ray bong, when it comes to their main line of products, the focus remains mostly on classic styles like beakers and straight bongs.
However, because of this ROOR bongs are extraordinarily expensive, and simply inaccessible to most smokers out there. In comparison, GRAV have really opened up the possibilities of smoking glassware design with the Gravitron and Helix range for the everyday smoker - because not everyone is a Cypress Hill rapper with cash to burn. Considering they also come at a fraction of the price of your standard straight ROOR bong, GRAV bongs are much more economically accessible for the average smoker who wants to amp up their sessions, while still having a quality, easy-to-use piece that will stand the test of time.
For us, GRAV come out on top - as a company they have truly worked to democratise the field of glassware, bringing high-quality, excellently crafted pieces to the average consumer - not just elite smokers. Not to mention, a great deal of skill, focus, and attention to detail. And the more elaborate and decorative the bong, the more work that goes into it. Nine times out of ten, the effort that goes into making a bong alone is the prime reason why some glass bongs are so expensive.
So the next time you turn your nose up at a pricey piece, keep the artist and the necessary sweat in mind. Weed smokers are unique in that they all have a different favorite strain, preferred ways to consume weed , etc.
Before pondering over why some glass bongs are so expensive too long and denying a potential badass piece merely because of the price tag, do your research and pay attention to its reviews because chances are if your fellow pot smoking community loves it, so will you.
My issue with all those pieces is they are so plane, I like my stuff to be a little off the wall. Some glass is superior to other glass. Roor devotees subscribe to the "Less is More" design thinking.

I spent 85 bucks on mine about 5 years ago. Works fine. My green and white label 9mm RooR broke at the glass on glass joint where it is designed to break when it falls. The joint was nowhere near as thick as the rest of the piece try 2 or 3mm. Then I got a pice called Purp it was a RooR knock off. It hit great, but it was too thin and broke easily.
But if it's just going to break anyway why get the expensive one? I prefer off brands with regular downstems that aren't designed to break easily. I have a Puff piece that is beautiful, hits wonderfully with the diffuser I added and I've had it since I have owned RooR products for more then 8 years and have never broken a down spout joint.
All my pipes are still intact and "fully operational". FrankDaTank89 New Member. I've been to a few headshops with glass that was localy blown, and pretty much have a lot of bongs almost exactly the same as diffrent roor pieces, and they were going for about half the price if not less.
