How fast do games ship from gamefly

When you're paying monthly, all that time spent on shipping feels like a wasted part of your subscription. I only had the option that let you rent one game though. If you can still rent 2 games or more that'd be the way to go since you could get like two games, finish one and then send it back, order another one, and play the second game while the other one you ordered is shipping.

Sterba Member. Oct 25, I've been using it for the last few years without issue. Having games in my queue before they release almost always gets them sent to me.

Hasn't been a new release in the last 3 years that I've not gotten that's been in my queue. However a friend also had them but seemed to have issues getting games.

Not sure if he was trying to get games already out that were low availability or what though. For games that have been out, I haven't used it much so I can't really say how good they are. Gamefly is terrible, it takes forever for them to ship or receive a game, I've rejoined a few times as late as last year and they still suck.

Compare that to how fast Netflix was when they shipped disc's. I'd get a movie in 2 days, watch it, send it back the next morning and get an email that afternoon saying they were alerted by the post office that I'd returned it and that the next movie in my queue had already shipped out.

On average, for me, renting a hour single player game had a week turn around and newer, popular games were a crapshoot if I'd get one. Last edited: Aug 19, JaredG Member. May 17, 3, Oct 27, 2, I never rented games through them, but they occasionally have banging sales.

The sales are awesome too because you can occasionally find amazing deals, and all the DLC and pack in codes with new versions of the game come with the game, since those are never sent out with rentals. I usually buy games a year from them.

I've had this experience with Gamefly, and depending on the status of your 'want to play' backlog, it's not always so bad. And sometimes it is that bad - like those times I've signed back up so that I could rent specific, big-ticket games. Early on this generation, I played a lot of games through Gamefly. Not necessarily the biggest and newest games every time, but yeah, if you've got a fair few games on your mind that other people subscribed to the service aren't necessarily going to be vying for, then it's an alright service to get.

Otherwise, nah. One thing though - depending on where you live or in other words, how close you are to a GameFly distro center and what your local shipping services are like, it'll work like it did for me - when I'd return a GameFly game, they'd acknowledge the return within 24 hours, well before the game arrived back to them, and I'd get the games within 2 days of GameFly sending them out.

Def worth a free trial I think, just to see how your own experience is. Megatron Member. Yinyangfooey said:. What's your experience with Day 1 releases? Do you actually get them Day 1? If I sign up for a free trial now, would I be able to get Control day 1? Also, how does sending back work? Do I need to pay shipping fees to return games? Oct 27, It's a good service if you play a lot of games, live near a distribution center and actively manage your queue.

I might cancel though since I've been playing fewer disc based games and cannot buy gift certificates from the site anymore to reduce the monthly price. It's not like Gamestop is going to give me a full refund on an opened 3DS game because I didn't like it. Whenever a 3DS game that interests me is released, I'm using Gamefly to play it. Gamefly also has a bunch of games that my local Blockbuster doesn't carry.

It usually takes 2 days to receive a game after Gamefly sends me a confirmation email. They also ship out new games the day before they're released which means I usually have a new release the day after it hits stores. An example I use is Uncharted 3. It was released on Tuesday November 1st. I have no problem waiting an extra day to play a new release. The shipping might slow down next year when the United States Postal Service slows down their next day mail service.

One problem I've encountered is the availability of a new videogame after it's been released. You can almost guarantee a new release will have "Low Availability" for it's first month.

I've had it take weeks to receive a confirmation email after a games been released. A game that comes to mind is Batman: Arkham Asylum. Purchase a multi-game plan, allowing you to have two or more games out at a time.

This allows you to get all of your games faster, because you do not have to wait for one game to return to Gamefly before another is mailed to you. Move games with an "Available Now" status to the top of your GameQ.

These games are ready to ship immediately. GameFly, the video game rental company, will be shutting down its streaming service at the end of the month, Variety reported earlier this week.
